How to set up 'GARMIN CONNECT' on web for a 'GARMIN Edge 530' ?

On GARMIN CONNECT-website I uploaded a bicycle route, as an gpx-file.
In GARMIN CONNECT it is visible as a 'Course'
Trying to click the 'Send to Device'-button,
the GARMIN CONNECT-website gives a message :
" ... compatible devices has not been set up in GARMIN CONNECT ...

When I start GARMIN CONNECT-website, it asks me to connect my device ... ... but I do not see my 'GARMIN Edge 530'

What is a good direction to take?

SOLVED
(by a Dutch employee of Garmin support organisation, via chat)

I connected my Garmin with USB cable to my laptop computer.
I placed my gpx-file in ‘NewFiles’ folder.
When you disconnect device, gpx-file is written away.
(‘NewFiles’ folder is thus always empty at the time of connection).
Garmin processes ‘NewFiles’ folder and displays the gpx-file as ‘Course’.

(This option is not in user manual.
Possibly because Garmin does not want customers to change the internal memory of device?)
