Unable to pay with Garmin Pay in Connect IQ

Hi,

Is there anyone who experienced the same error?

I recently got a Venu 3S and I am very happy with it so far, but when I want to purchase something from the ConnectIQ app something goes wrong.
I.e. When I want to buy one of those watchfaces that has to be paid for by garminpay I get asked to verify my card by filling in the name on the card, card number, expire date etc. After doing so I get to a new screen which asks for my billing address and that's where it goes wrong because after filling out my address and clicking submit I keep getting an error message which states that something went wrong and I have to try again...

Now I have set up Garmin Pay on my watch correctly and I also used it to do a few payments in a physical store so GP does actually work with my card. However for some reason I won't seem to get it to work for payments in the IQ app which is pretty annoying since there keep getting more and more apps and watchfaces that have to be paid for by GP.

Solutions I have already tried:
- Restarting both my phone and Venu
- Disconnecting the watch from the app as well as bluetooth
- Removing the card and setting up GP again

  • I contacted Garmin about it but they ain't being helpfull at all. After having to explain the issue multiple times all they say is that they can't help me because it's my bank's fault. However my bank says that they can't do anything since everything is set up correctly and it's up to Garmin.

What's even more frustrating is that the garmin app literally states that my card IS AVAILABLE for use in the Connect IQ app so this really makes no sense at all. And since more and more apps and watchfaces only can be paid with GPay I am affraid that the whole watch will become quite useless (unless you keep using the default stuff but that doesn't meet all my preferences)

  • Hi, I have the same problem I haven't connected yet anyone but maybe messaging the watch face developers would be a good move. Developers probably want their money they probably wouldn't be happy hearing Gain doesn't really care about the problem.

  • I did. One developer was really helpfull and actually uploaded a version which can be paid through kiezelpay. But with the others I didn't have any luck. It's a shame that Garmin basically doesn't give a beep about the issue and put the blame on others

  • Same problem here... Just got this watch please fix it venu 3 same ***

  • Same here. This is pretty crazy. Usually companies try to make it easier to pay them, not harder.

    Edit:

Reading the original problem again, I think mine may have been a bit different. Connect IQ wasn't letting me add any payment methods, preventing me from making purchases. Through a little bit of effort, I was able to find a workaround through Connect IQ in the browser. I was able to add a card here, which *did* actually work correctly then when making purchases in the Connect IQ app on Android:

    apps.garmin.com/account

  • I figured out how to make it work on a whim.  When Connect IQ on my iPhone popped up the “Pay using your Garmin device”, I unplugged my Fenix 8 AMOLED watch from the phone.  After a few moments I received a prompt on my watch asking me which card I wanted to use.  I clicked on the OK/Yes (Action) button, and it said the purchase was complete and it was installing.  About a minute later… yes!  The watchface showed up on my watch.

Connect IQ on my iPhone just kept sitting there with the prompt to pay with my Gamin device and the spinning icon…

  • Doesn't work for me unfortunately :( I still keep getting the same error message as usual.

i think it is really bad that garmin does nothing about this problem even after 5 months!! Especially when you consider that they are also working against their own profit. A bit of a topsy-turvy world: people want to buy watchfaces but are not allowed to... what a joke. And that for a company that makes such expensive watches and equipment. Shame on you Garmin

  • You mentioned that you set up Garmin Pay on your watch, but you’re getting the same error message.  What specifically is the error message your getting?  For me, I had Garmin Pay configured on my Fenix 8 using a Visa card.  When I first attempted to buy the Official Fallout watchface via Connect IQ on my iPhone, I received a message saying “No Garmin device connected” or something to that effect.  So, I connected my Fenix 8 to my iPhone via the Garmin-supplied USB-C cable, and then I tried to make the purchase again.  This time a prompt popped up on the Connect IQ screen saying, “Pay using your Garmin device”, and it had a spinning wheel to the right of the message.  This went on indefinitely, so I decided to give up and unplugged the cable from my phone.  Up until the disconnect, my watch was stuck on the “charging” screen with the battery icon, etc., and none of the 5 buttons would do anything.  As soon as I disconnected the phone, my watch popped up a prompt asking if my card ending in XXXX was the one I wanted to use, and I clicked on the upper right (Action?) button, and then things seemed to move forward.  The Connect IQ app appeared to be out in La La Land with the same “Pay using your Garmin device” message and the same spinning wheel.  I just closed out the Connect IQ app, but the watchface did in fact download and install on my watch.

  • I  think your problem was a whole different one compared to mine. I get a message that says something went wrong and I have to try again. But even after 5 months of trying again it doesn't work. Garmin says it has to do something with my bank but my bank says it's Garmins problem. I am able to pay with Garmin Pay on my watch so that's not the problem. Only if I try to purchase a watchface or app via garmin pay it doesn't let me. It tells me to verify my card for it, which I did but after filling out all the data fields it just keeps saying something went wrong over and over again
