How to start Face it without a picture?

I would like to use Face it to design my own watch face, but it wants me to take a photo or pick one from my (Samsung) Gallery before proceeding. I just want a plain background, not a picture. How can I get past this?

  • I am not familiar with the app, but if you find no other option, I'd simply use a monochrome picture of the color you want to use as background.

  • I thought of that, but was lazy enough to hope for something simpler.  Anyway, I did as you suggest, but it wasn‘t worth the effort: the possibilities for creating a custom watch face in Face it are quite rudimentary.  The possibilities for creating custom watch faces directly on the watch are far more extensive. Given the capabilities of modern mobile devices I had expected Face it to be far more powerful.  What a disappointment!

If you need a more powerful tool for designing watchfaces, have a look at the Connect IQ SDK. With some programming skills you can design practically any watchface you can imagine.

  • Thanks, but I find this really lame.  Why should one need programming skills?  The interactive watch face designer on the watch can already do so much more than Face it, without requiring the user to program.  Why can‘t Face it provide *at least* this much functionality?  IMHO, Face it is useless, superfluous and a waste of time.

  • I don't know if you're using the old Face It or the updated one. The newer one is pretty nice, with a lot more options than the old one. What it won't do is create an AOD, which for mew is a deal breaker. I won't use a watch face without an AOD.

  • What‘s an AOD?

  • Always-on display
