update needed, but device is up to date

I just bought the fenix 7s. I tried to download some music apps. But when i do, they tell me I need to u[date my device.

However when I go to garmin connect on phone, or garmin express on PC, it tells me device is up to date, yet I get the same error regardless the app i try to download.

I've seen some posts on similar topics, but they were very old, or were about outdated devices.

  • I've got the same problem.  The fault is at least 7 years old, and apparently, they can't be bothered to fix it.  I haven't found an answer (especially not on the many Reddit threads - I don't think I've ever found an answer there, just identical questions to the ones I'm asking).

    So we've paid all this money for this watch, and we can't listen to music for around a week or whenever they can be bothered to let us update.  Obviously we can't download older versions of the music apps, because Garmin don't appear to care about customer satisfaction.

  • For me it turned out that despite both connect and express saying it was up to date, the device still needed patching. After that it works.

    A few resets of the watch and it turned up.

  • I just got mine, same thing is happening, how do you do this patch? 

  • Same issue on my new fenix 7x saphirre solar - $1000 watch with an issue that should have been fixed. I just went with Garmin from my Apple Watch and was debating upgrading to new apple ultimate or this. Wondering now if I made the right choice,

  • I just upgraded to the Forerunner 955 and I have the same issue. I downloaded Spotify but it is not showing ... I also cannot get a watch face face nothing .... what should I do?! Never had the issue with the 945

  • Same issue. Bought a 955. Software version is 13.23, and according to Garmin Express and Connect, it's up to date. Have deleted everything, reinstalled, restarted, and it won't recognise that 15.17 is out. As a result, I cannot download from the Garmin Connect IQ store to use the music settings. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Same issue with my brand new Forerunner 255 Music…

  • same with my forerunner 255 music. I called garmin support and the guy said to enroll in the beta via garmin connect. I enrolled but still doesn't show any update after two hours.

  • Same here! Two different apps I use all the time and they won't install.
