I'm trying to update my software on my GPSMAP 743 the unit says "Update is partially complete. Press Restart and
initate the update again to complete" but when I do that, and say to install the update, I just end up here again, looping forever?

I have the same problem - 1243 xsv
Unit wants to update the radar software. Just keeps looping
I had the same problem on my 8612 update attempt. A friend told me to take out one of the sd cards…I have 2 8612’s. I did this and the update completed. That said after the update the fuel consumption data for my twin Yamaha 300’s is now 2x what the actual is and was before the update. Someone on the hull truth told me this was a known bug and will be fixed in a future update.
OK: This is solved now. I called Garmin support, because some of my devices don't support active captain and some do, it triggers this problem. The mailed me (for free) an SD card with the software updates on it, after inserting it into the older unit, the updates all applied and now no more warning about update partially complete!
I have the same issue immediately after installing a new Fantom Radar- I have an 8616xsv - it’s a continuous loop-will it update software if I remove the active captain designated sd card? I do have another card in unit so I guess I will try removing all cards except the Active Captain card? This is annoying as everything had been working well- it really makes me hesitant to use Active Captain.
I just went through another software glitch in an update this Spring where selecting an option to have the MENU bar minimize or disappear when not in use (not the Toolbar) caused the screen to wink or lag when I engaged the autopilot. It looked like a power issue but it turned out to be software after much wasted troubleshooting.
