PC Access to Quickdraw Contour Maps?

I've been uploading maps for several years and for the past few months, nothing is showing up that I share. They seem to be having problems.

I have had the same issue with uploading maps from a fly in lake in Canada that we have been mapping over the last few years. This August no uploads have made it onto the community and if we lose our Stryker unit we now will lose all mapping data. After multiple emails finally got some information worth sharing..

"As far as the Community downloads on the ActiveCaptain app how they work is when an individual records an area and shares it with the community it goes into review. Once our cartography team receives enough submissions they're able to verify to authenticity of the reports and then will release them to the public. This is why there's a varying time frame for each location. "

"Unfortunately we do not have exact dates for when lakes are going to be update in the future as there are too many variables.  Additionally, as Bryce mentioned below there is a process to getting community downloads published, so we cannot offer a timeframe.  My anecdotal experience is that I have seen some published within a few weeks while others were not published due to issues with the content.  I know that is less than helpful but we are unable to give exact time frames on these things for the previously mentioned reasons."

So bottom line is that Garmin decides what maps they upload to their "community". The cynic in me says that they wont bother with remote areas people wont buy from them in future. Not having an SD card on the Strykers might force us to buy a whole new unit

Anyone have any hacks on how to save maps from a Stryker without uploading to QuickDraw Community?

Hey man - I never received any help and this forum is awful. I have not found any way to get contour maps that I create to my computer - which stinks - Garmin also does a terrible job vetting "community" maps. One that I pulled for a local lake was about 10 feet deeper than possible, and I can only assume someone decided to map and then forgot to make a map but forgot to reset their offset (adjustment for water fluctuation) - it was WAY off. 

Really a cool idea, terrible execution and support, and the inability to upload maps I make to my computer so I can save and also review after a trip is really disappointing. Love my Striker overall, but it could be sop much better.

Yeah, the mapping function is fantastic but with no SD card to back up and view on other devices the Striker isn't fit for purpose. I used the community to back up our maps which took hours and days to make. We are the only people to have mapped the lake we go to in Canada and this summers mapping will be a totally wasted effort as cant back it up. Striker worked pretty well for the first few years but  now they have stopped updating maps there is no way to transfer maps to other units or pc or active captain app. 

We might have to buy an echo map so in future have some back up in case striker fails. 

My advice to anyone reading is DO NOT buy a striker if you value your time to create your own maps and get a unit with SD card. 

If Garmin added the ability to download maps to PC or Active captain via WIFI it would at least allow you to move maps between units.

There is probably not much of an incentive to increase / improve functionality either. I'm sure you've noticed the push in Active Captain to buy maps, or "premium charts." I am still very pleased with the unit, but all of my personal maps live on one unit in my jon boat. I do not WANT to upload them to the public community, because I can get into areas other guys can't fish. When I want to go back and review where I mapped, I have to do it straight on the unit using the SLOOOOOWWWW moving cursor and it is really frustrating. 

When we move, I'll be looking for a unit that allows you to make maps, but also upload to some sort of a PC program so I can review my work. Know of any that allow this?

Ive looked hard into getting user created quickdraw maps from a Striker onto PC and there isn't any. ONLY way I have seen or read about is to upload to Community then buy/borrow a Garmin unit with SD card like the Echo Map series and take individual screen shots of portions of a lake. You can then use an editor to stitch these screenshots together to make a map but it wont be interactive. Garmin BaseCamp only allows waypoints and/or purchased maps to be installed. The cynic in me says they are going to take all the community maps, bundle em up and sell em for the same territories as their Premium maps.

Other option is to leave the Garmin universe and go Hummingbird or other. I have invested three years into mapping "our" remote fly in lake and dont want to lose the maps so gonna have to stick with Garmin. I actually dont mind too much sharing maps but would be annoyed if we cant even upload for backup and use on Active Captain app.

Will try one last time with Garmin to see if they can prioritise uploading our last set of submissions to Community and if not will reluctantly have to buy an EchoMap with SD card
