Ant + not connected in OS 10.11

Lots of people have this issue, I'm running Mac OS X 10.11 Public Beta version 5 and my mac doesn't find my Ant+ Stick.
Yes this is annoying but I understand that I'm running beta software and this sort of thing happens but what is also annoying is the childish way this forum is treating those with the problem.
All forums reporting this issue are closed with the same response "we don't support Beta software".
Why can't you a bit more open about it, if its Apple's fault say so and point users to the place they can report the issue to them.
If you are working on a fix that may not be ready for months say so.
The other reason for beta testing is to enable bugs and incompatibilities to be found before software hits the mainstream.
We are trying to help you, the full release of El Capitan is just round the corner you need to be ready.

El Capitan update - Public Beta 5

Lots of people have this issue, I'm running Mac OS X 10.11 Public Beta version 5 and my mac doesn't find my Ant+ Stick.

Could not agree more with your post, not sure why all the locked posts, but it looks like standard procedure for Garmin. Same locked posts in other areas like windows forums etc. So they treat all customers equally 😕

FWIW - I am also on El Capitan beta and could not get Garmin express to recognize my Ant+ usb and my Forerunner 405CX for the past 2 weeks.

Now today I installed and old version of ANT agent from my old lap top - Lion and while I was fiddling with it - all of a sudden Garmin express 4.1.5.0 started working and recognized my ANT and forerunner and uploaded my recent activities.

So looks like it is working now (with El Capitan) - not sure if this was because I updated to the new beta 5 ( El Capitan) or if Garmin express 4.1.5.0 is a new version - but the good news it is working.

Also the old ant version worked too.

Just thought I would throw that in before they lock this thread!
  • Bear in mind that when signing up to take part in the Apple OS-X beta program, you agree to a non-disclosure agreement, and that posts of this nature are in violation of that agreement. Any 'issues' with the Beta software should be directed to Apple through the Feedback Assistant as part of the Beta software. Garmin will not be able to assist with any concerns regarding Beta software, as they won't get the code from Apple until after it has gone through beta testing

Ant + not connected in OS 10.10

I also got ANT+ not connected. But I am not running BETA. I have 10.10.4. El Capitan comment about down rev worked. I found 4.1.5.0 on techspot , removed 4.1.6.0 and installed - problem solved and sync running to load 2 weeks of data.

    Thanks!!

The fix to get syncing working with El Capitan 10.11 seems to be to go to the Garmin Express URL (http://software.garmin.com/en-US/express-download.html#mac), download the installer (currently 4.1.6.0) and run it.

Things should be working once again. It will soon thereafter ask you if you want to upgrade to Garmin Express 4.5. I would not recommend doing this as it may break things again. If you like living dangerously, go ahead and update and see if things continue to work.

It works for me on OS X 10.11 Public Beta 5, anyway.

Garmin Express 4.1.6.0 with El Cap public beta version 6

    - From Sticky at the top of forum -
"On August 25th, we released version 4.1.6.0 of Garmin Express. This version of Garmin Express has resolved all outstanding issues regarding ANT compatibility in OS X 10.11."

Not sure why Garmin would post a wild claim like that - would make sense to lower expectations and why not say "here is a short term patch untill the final release of OS X 10.11" - and even worse to make it a "Sticky" and then lock it as if it is a done deal and does not need any feedback from customers.

Anyway - I read the sticky and other posts that recommended to upgrade to Garmin express 4.1.6.0 and faithfully tried it out (again) - it does sort of work - takes loonnnnggg time and connects - but end result was a warning message "Some files could not be sent to your device"

This is a huge disappointment and a another waste of time for me - I jumped on a Garmin Update rather than listen to others who have reported problems here and on other forums :(

So, I once again revert to 4.1.5.0 - ( Restore backup - common practice with Garmin updates)

Silver Lining - a pleasant surprise - all these recent upgrades and issues have made me try a few older versions from prior lap tops and and Apple and Garmin updates.

I now have Garmin Training Center working and also TrailRunnerx ( Awesome App ) - updating and synchronizing without the need of sending my data to Gamin Express and sharing my private data with Garmin.

I once again went back to the legacy version of "Garmin ANT Agent" version 2.2.2 working with GTC 3.2.1 and basically using current version of Trainlrunnerx as the final / consolidating app.

I have been on the fence for the purchase of the fēnix for a while - I have 5 other Garmin devices and this is the next step for me. The upgrade, software and data issues are discouraging.

I am losing faith - why do I have to share data to Garmin Express and why does Garmin Express have so many problems over the past 3 years?
