PLEASE give me back my sync button. YES I HAVE READ YOUR POST ON IT.

Right... So, Garmin, you seem to think it's really clever to remove the sync button from Garmin Express because the devices automatically sync when it's connected - I have read your frustratingly over-simplistic explanation for this. Now please start listening to your users.

When I connect my Edge 800, for some reason on my Mac it takes a long time to mount the SD card drive where I log my activities.

Garmin Express starts syncing when the main drive is mounted, and finishes before the SD card is mounted. This means my activities are NOT UPLOADED.

The only workaround for me is to manually completely quit the app and reload it once both drives are mounted.

Given that there is a button to check for device updates manually, which I think also happens automatically it is REALLY ANNOYING not having a manual sync button.

Can you tell that this is really annoying me yet? My frustration is building every time I come home from a ride. This is so unnecessary.

PLEASE PUT IT BACK! There is no benefit in removing this button and it is annoying a lot of users.

Next time you make a change that provokes a lot of ire from your users please try to understand why it is annoying them rather than simply fobbing everyone off.

Rant over. Hopefully I can now resume my normal calm disposition. (Sorry - this issue and Garmin's response have been progressively winding me up for weeks now.)

I am sorry that you are having trouble syncing your device. I was able to duplicate the issue that you are describing on an Edge 800 here and I have created a case for this issue. I can't promise that the sync button will return but hopefully we will have some kind of solution.

In the meantime, if there is some reason that the activities need to be saved to the memory card, I think the easiest workaround is to uncheck "Always keep Garmin Express running in the background" from Preferences (in the Garmin Express menu) and open Garmin Express after the device and memory card are mounted. I will post to this thread again once we hear back about the case.

Many thanks Jason. I had sent an email support request about this some time ago but hadn't got a very helpful reply, hence getting a little frustrated.

Yes, I record to the memory card as I occasionally access files using my phone and other computers with card readers. I'll have to manually launch I as you suggest for now. At least that avoids a while load of clicks to quit it.

I'm still a bit baffled that there is a manual recheck action for new device firmware but not for sync - Which will be used more often? :)
