Garmin Edge 1000 Map Update problem

Hello, I am unable to update maps for my edge 1000 device. Garmin Express Service has this entry in its LOG file:

015-07-20 22.14.41 (GMT+04:00) | 69779 | W | Failed to download http://nd.downloadg.garmin.com/RMU/CYCLEMAPEU/2015_10/IMG/006-D4678-07/GMP/00520994.GMP: Error Domain=DownloadManagerErrorDomain Code=2 "MD5 did not match expected for file /Users/russ/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/Maps/CYCLEMAPEU.2015.10/IMG/006-D4678-07/GMP/00520994.GMP" UserInfo=0x7ff009ef9970 {ActualMD5=088dc75640c3d8a7740ce2a7ee1bbae4, NSLocalizedDescription=MD5 did not match expected for file /Users/russ/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/Maps/CYCLEMAPEU.2015.10/IMG/006-D4678-07/GMP/00520994.GMP, ExpectedMD5=7b4ee9e19a77f4ec557fa143d850cf4f}

Looks like, the remote file "nd.downloadg.garmin.com/.../00520994.GMP" is corrupt and needs checking... please advise!

    I am sorry that you are having trouble downloading the map. Generally these checksum errors are caused by either connectivity problems, using a vpn or proxy, or using a Wi-Fi connection. I would recommend following the instructions in the FAQ:
    What should I do if I am having problems downloading updates in Garmin Express?

  • Hello Jason,

    No, it's not proxy, vpn or whatever network issue.. Other files are downloading fine so far, it' just this one file that is broken.

    I tried restarting the update many times already, I re-registered device many times.. but the problem is still there, the same broken file download:

    2015-07-21 14.55.16 (GMT+04:00) | 145931 | W | Failed to download http://nd.downloadg.garmin.com/RMU/CYCLEMAPEU/2015_10/IMG/006-D4678-07/GMP/00520994.GMP: Error Domain=DownloadManagerErrorDomain Code=2 "MD5 did not match expected for file /Users/russ/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/Maps/CYCLEMAPEU.2015.10/IMG/006-D4678-07/GMP/00520994.GMP" UserInfo=0x7ff00ecdd900 {ActualMD5=088dc75640c3d8a7740ce2a7ee1bbae4, NSLocalizedDescription=MD5 did not match expected for file /Users/russ/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/Maps/CYCLEMAPEU.2015.10/IMG/006-D4678-07/GMP/00520994.GMP, ExpectedMD5=7b4ee9e19a77f4ec557fa143d850cf4f}

    If, by any chance, anyone would send me the 00520994.GMP file directly, I could replace it locally and let the updater complete the installation.

    Thanks.

    I am sorry for the troubles. If the file was corrupt then everyone updating the map would experience this same issue. I suggest you delete the 006-D4678-07 folder and have Express download again.

    Again, I am sorry for the troubles.

  • Hello Curt,

    I purged the contents of Maps folder many times and tried to re-download everything from a scratch before coming to this forum. The downloader still wants this file to have different MD5 checksum. I want someone from Garmin contact me and solve this issue. I am a software developer and know how those things work so we could debug that issue with your tech guys.
  • I'm having the exact same problem, and I have no plans to waste anymore time dealing with it. Not only have I done software development, but I'm a product manager. I'll just say that from a product management standpoint, the software support coming from Garmin as it relates to issues involving updates, whether to maps or the firmware, is incredibly poor.

    Curt, did you ever get satisfaction on this?

  • Hello,

    I think I have to post an update to my issue as to avoid any unfairness. The issue I raised here was handled via email and I do not know how exactly the issue was fixed, but I had my device updated.

    Russ.
