Garmin Express not syncing with Vivoactive

Former Member

"There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect."

I have uninstalled/re-installed Express, rebooted my Mac and tried to sync many, many times. I can't find anything useful on the forums to help with this. Garmin Connect status reads all green and ONLINE. No return email from Garmin support.

Also, all of my customized data fields are no longer on the vivoactive and they are showing ready-to-be-installed on Connect and Express.

Any suggestions or advice would be great...thanks!

If you have went through all of the troubleshooting steps in the following article I would suggest you call support since email may take a couple days for a response:
What can I try when my ANT Fitness device will not sync with Garmin Express?

    Hi Albert,

Thank you for the message. I would like to try the suggestions on the site, but your link produced this:

The JSP error is typically caused by outdated browsers or old cached data. Try checking to see if your browser is up to date. If it is, since clicking on links is not working for you, try Googling our FAQ:

How do I clear my browser history, cache, and temporary Internet files?

Once the cache is cleared, you should be able to click on the link. However if not, try Googling the title:

What can I try when my ANT Fitness device will not sync with Garmin Express?

It helped to empty/clear cache/history and can now view the site you and Albert refer to; however, Express still produces a red bar and reads (same as my original post): There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect.

I am sorry that you are still having trouble. Are your activities still uploading when you sync? I noticed that the Personal Records are the only thing in your pending sync items. Did the settings finally sync OK. Also, try deleting the Personal Records by clicking the x next to it in your sync items on Garmin Connect to see if that is what is giving the error. If the problem goes away, try resending them again. If you are still having trouble, I would recommend contacting Product Support by phone to troubleshoot.

    Hi Jason,
This worked…deleting the personal records. Thank you. It's not a huge deal, but I hope they will load in the future.
    Cheers!
