Garmin Express installation problem due to Garmin Express Service

Hi
I have a problem installing Garmin Express on my macbook air running 10.8.5 . I get a message saying 'Garmin Express Service must be closed before the software can be installed'. I click 'close application' and … nothing. The thing just hangs.

Can someone help please?

It appears you may have an older version of Garmin Express already running. Garmin Express runs as a Service which can be stopped by clicking the black triangle in the top right of the menu bar and choosing Quit then Don't Run in Background. Once this icon goes away you can run the install again.
