Lost my file after syncing

Former Member

Hi,

Yesterday I have synced my Fenix 2 through Garmin Express with Garmin Connect. It synced on my macbook air but did not have an internet connection yet. After 10 minutes I had wifi and got the message that I could see my hike at Garmin connect. It wasn't there though. I can't find it in the library on my mac nor on my fenix.

Two questions:
1. Can I find this file anywhere - Garmin express must save it somewhere before uploading it to garmin connect, or after uploading it must be at some server?
2. Can I uncheck a box so the file on my Fenix is not automatically deleted after syncing with Garmin Express? I'd rather do that manually after syncing, just to be sure. There is no checkbox to find anywhere on the Fenix or Garmin express app.

Hop to hear from you,

Giel
  • The latest version of Garmin Express for Mac does not delete the fitness activity .FIT file after a successful sync. You can use the FAQ to locate the folder where the files are stored before they are transferred to Garmin Connect. Obviously do not delete the Sync folder per the instructions. There are a couple of folders inside the Sync folder and the fitness activity file is in the FIT_TYPE_4 folder.

How do I remove FIT files that fail to sync in Garmin Express from my computer?

If the .FIT file is not in this folder or in the Activity folder on the fenix2 then it is not recoverable. PLease let us know if you have any other questions.

You can use some hard drive data recovery software, here's a good one: recover lost files from hard disk

    hope this helps.
