Nuvi 1490 no maps available

I have had my Garmin Nuvi 1490 for over 5 years. I have updated the maps annually with the lifetime free updates. This year after I updated it I started having issues. When I start it up it says no maps available. When I am driving it shows me driving "off the road". I have tried doing a hard reset, reloading the update, nothing seems to be working. What to do?
  • What does it show in Tools, Settings, map, MapInfo?

Thank you for your response. The "Map Info" page is blank.

I am sorry that you are having trouble with your nuvi 1490. Have you already went through this FAQ? The most important steps would be to make sure that the microSD card is formatted FAT32 (if you are installing to a card) and to make sure to safely remove the device before disconnecting it from your computer after updating the maps.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, it would be best to contact Product Support by phone.

  • Got it!

Okay, here is what I did.
    I did a hard reset....
Took out the memory card and reinstalled it...
    Reloaded the maps.

The only thing that I did notice is that our town has three newer roundabouts. I would swear that before they were on the "older" update. Now they are not there but I can live with that.

Other than that, it seems to be working.

    Thanks for the help.
