I synched my S3 with Garmin Express and attempted to add overseas courses. After the synch my S3 cannot find my usual courses in the US, with the error message "no courses found" or "no course available" or something similar. It is as if the domestic courses aren't installed. I restarted my Mac, reinstalled Garmin Express, deleted user settings on the S3 and resynched my S3. It says it is up to date and that the domestic courses are installed but it still cannot find a course. Any suggestions on how to correct this?
I am sorry for the troubles. The current version of Garmin Express for Mac has an issue where it only offers to install the Courseview maps to the computer, where by they cannot be installed on the Approach. The Garmin Express team is aware of this issue and working on a solution. An immediate work around would be to install Garmin Express on a PC and reinstall the Courseview maps to the Approach.
Thanks Curt! I was able to synch on a PC. It says the software is installed. Now the watch can't find a satellite. The progress bar takes forever then it just gives up and goes back to displaying the time. I am in the open on a slightly overcast day not far from the course.
Could this still be a software problem or is the thing just dead? I have mixed feelings about this because I would love to buy an S6 but can't justify it if this watch works.
I am sorry that you are having trouble finding satellites. The only thing that I can recommend for an issue with acquiring satellites is to master reset the device. If this does not solve the problem, it would be best to contact product support by phone.
I am sorry the Master Reset didn't correct the issue. Garmin has a trade in program that will get you a break on a new Approach. Please contact Garmin Product Support by phone for specifics.
