I am also having this same issue. My Fenix2 is on 4.00 and needs to be updated. When I try to use the WebUpdate I get a message saying "The update file is corrupted."

It also won't sync with my phone or the Garmin Express app on my Mac but it says that it doesn't support my device and to use the Garmin Map Updater. I download this but it then unexpectedly closes when it tries to download.
  • I am sorry for the troubles. I suggest you use the FAQ: How do I manually upload data from USB Mass Storage devices to Garmin Connect? to manually upload any activity files to Garmin Connect then delete them from the fenix 2. Also look inside the Garmin folder for a file called GUPDATE.GCD and delete it. Then you can try WebUpdater again or if you use BaseCamp it has the ability to update the firmware as well.

It sounds like you Mac isn't running OS 10.8 or above and are being offered the Garmin Map Updater. That is not used at all with the fenix line.

If you continue to have trouble I suggest you contact Garmin Product Support by phone.

Why do the majority of the links on the support page provide errors? It's not very helpful when you can't even browse the support website.

    My Mac is running 10.10.3.

All the links are good, some web browsers receive local java errors which could be anything from out dated web browser to extensions that block javascript from running. You can visit the main FAQ page then search for the title of the article. https://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/search.htm

I don't think it's unique when multiple people have issues.
  • Check the Activity and the GPX folder on the fenix2 and delete any file that is 0 or 1kb in size then try to sync again. If you continue to have troubles call Garmin Product Support by phone so the issue can be looked at more closely.
