Maps do not work

Hi all, I have spent over 20 hours now trying to get my Nuvi 1390 to work after my first attempt at a map update. It came with lifetime maps so I tried to updated the maps with Express but it failed with an error that there wasn't enough storage. I bought an SD card but Express failed again so after hours of reading I decided to try the Map Update program. It saw the SD card and the installation seemed to go just fine and finish successfully but when I tried to use the device I got the message "no map data is available". I am guessing that the SD card is not being read although if I open Map Updater again it says I am up to date (well it says would you like to reinstall with other options). I tried Express again and it said I need a map update. When I ran it this time it seemed to install successfully but it is doing the same thing. If I go into tools->settings->map->info, the screen is blank. I need some help please.

    I am sorry for the troubles. It sounds like the maps have loaded but got disabled some how. Please see the FAQ: How do I check what mapping I have installed on my nuvi, LIVE, zumo, Camper/RV, or dezl device? Enable the map if it is listed on the Map Info page. If you continue to have troubles contact Garmin Support by phone.
