Garmin Express will not sync with VivoSmart after the update

I just returned my vivosmart (3 weeks old) because it had some dead pixels. No issues there, got a new replaced at the future shop no problem, but when I went to upgrade the software for vivosmart on imac via garmin express it wanted to update express. I did this, but now i cannot find the vivosmart via the usb. The usb symbol is up but it cannot find it. It syncs fine to iphone 6 plus.

I am guessing this is a software issue. Please help.

Oh btw - I tried installing the software and a fresh reinstall but that didnt help either :(

I am sorry for the troubles. The vivosmart when connected to the Mac is similar to a USB Flash drive. It will mount as a virtual drive in Finder. Please use the FAQ: Why is my Garmin USB device not recognized by my Mac? If the vivosmart is available in Finder then Garmin Express should detect it. Please let us know if you continue to have troubles.
