2 express problems on mac

I have updated to the latest after I completely removed the old version. Garmin 2555
Problem number 1 - I have a card in with Trinidad maps on it and us maps on the Garmin. Both these show on my mac (Garmin and Trinidad) as icons. I can eject the Garmin and it stays ejected but if I eject Trinidad both the Garmin and Trinidad re connect. If I eject Trinidad first it re connects.
Problem number 2 - When I plug the Garmin into mu usb Express does not auto start, I have to start it. Auto start is selected.
Any ideas?

The issue with the device reconnecting to the computer happens on many Garmin devices. The devices are designed to power on when they are receiving power which causes them to remount. However, the point of ejecting the device is to make sure that nothing is currently being written to the device. If it disappears and reappears then it is safe to unplug even though the Mac will give the error that it was not ejected properly.

In order for Garmin Express to auto-start when you plug in the device, Garmin Express must be set to run in the background. To change this setting:
    • Open Garmin Express
    • Click Garmin Express in the menu bar
    • Click Preferences
    • Check the box next to Always keep Garmin Express running in the background

  • Thanks, just checked. So if my settings are already always on for background, I'm wondering why the update stayed open all night and nothing had completed by next morning?

  • Great use of the search function I'm guessing but the OP was over 6 years ago. There have been many changes with he way GE works with devices on the Mac since.

What device are you having issues with?

  • Thanks, I guess I can't allow the unit to be moved while plugged into my macbook pro, while the update is occurring (Garmin Edge Touring, refurb, purchased late 2016).  Started over, and the process took about 4 hours to install updated maps.
