Express not finding my 3490

Hi all I hope someone can help me !
I use an iMac with Garmin express to update maps and software and although my iMac finds my 3490 express will not ( or webupdater for that matter) but very occasionally it will find it but not very often, my Mac is running Yosemite and the latest express . If I could get some help as I need to update map before I go on holiday .

Have you tried the troubleshooting in our FAQ Why is my Garmin device not communicating with Garmin Mac applications?

If the device is still not recognized, please contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.

Yes I have tried that but also I have reset to factory settings and that has done the trick or not will keep you updated.
