New Express not recognizing the Ant+ stick

Everything was working perfectly until yesterday when I upgraded to the new Express. Now it won't recognize the Ant+ stick, and I have 2 of them. Tried different ports but still nothing.

Its a MacBookPro 10.10.2 with Express 4.0.8.0.

Any help?

  • I installed the Ant+ Agent and it immediately sees the stick.

    As always, really sloppy programming and testing by Garmin.
  • If Express 4.0.8 shows the ANT Stick Connected button RED when the ANT Stick is connected to a USB port on the back or side of the Mac, QUIT the Garmin Express application then QUIT the Service.

    1. To quit the Service, click the black triangle in the Menu Bar at the top of the Mac.
    2. Click QUIT
    3. Click Don't Run in Background
    4. Wait about 30 seconds then open Garmin Express from the Applications folder.

    The ANT Stick Connected light should be green and Express should recognize the watch. Please let us know if this does not work as we have only seen a few isolated instances of this issue but have been unable to duplicate this in house.

  • I've down all that, even rebooting the mac.
    Killed all with the activity monitor, rebooted, etc, etc.

    Still have the red dot and "ANT Stick Not Connected".
  • Have you tried removing the device and attempting to pair the device again? If that doesn't work, I would suggest a complete uninstall of Garmin Express using the information in this article: How do I completely uninstall Garmin Express?

    After uninstalling Express using these instructions, install Garmin Express and try pairing the device again.

    Hey! I just hade the same problem, and found your question through google. I suspected it could have something to do with my antivirus software ESET Cybersecurity. So I disabled the real time system protection, and the ANT-stick was recognized again—syncing went fine afterwards!
  • Did the whole uninstall thing, disabled the Avast antivirus, still no luck.

    Everything worked fine until yesterday when I upgraded Express. I'll install the previous version until you get this thing to work.
  • Does it still say the ANT Stick is not detected with the red dot? Were you able to pair the device again at all before this issue came up after reinstalling? Or are you stuck on the "Add Device" screen after the reinstall? The watch should not be automatically added after a complete uninstall/reinstall.

  • This a very common problem. Some have had success deleting their device then adding it back. I chose to uninstall and then reinstall the old version. The ANT stick worked immediately after downgrading. Here's a link to another thread:
