Unable to get my Mac to sync with my 310XT

I have a Garmin Forerunner 310XT that has previously connected with my other Mac. I have now swapped the Ant stick to my new Mac and cannot get it to work.

I start the Garmin Express. It finds my 301XT and asks whether I want to want to add that device; which I do. It then starts to connect to my 310XT. The 310XT screen shows that it is ‘transferring data’. Garmin Express asks whether or not I want to connect to an existing account, which I do. I enter correct name and password.

Next comes the error message - ‘sorry, there is a problem with the servers, meaning they are temporarily unavailable. I should try again later.

My operating system is up to date - OS X Yosemite 10.10.1

I've uninstalled and re-installed Garmin Express. I've uninstalled and re-installed the Mac's operating system.

This has been going on for a month, I've got a tonne of data backed up on the device now and need to get it synced. I've raised the issue with product support but haven't really had a practical response. As far as I know, there is no problem with the servers.

Does anyone have any ideas?

    Yep shambolic stuff.

Having exactly the same problem today and unable to sync from my 310Xt to express on my Mac - OS recently updated. Very unhappy as it's a run I really want to record.

I've tried deleting and reinstalling but I get exactly the same error message as above.

Time to move to a different provider.

I am sorry that you are having trouble pairing your devices. This issue is generally caused by an issue with the watch where it creates a corrupt file when trying to sync with Garmin Express. The only way to resolve this issue on the Mac is to perform a master reset on the device.

Unfortunately, this will erase all of the data on the watch but there are a couple of ways that you can get the data off of the watch before resetting it:
    • Download Garmin Express for a PC and sync the device on the PC. The corrupt file does not affect the PC version of Garmin Express.
    • Sync the device with ANT Agent. Make sure to quit Garmin Express from the black triangle in your menu bar prior to installing ANT Agent and uninstall ANT Agent after resetting the device.

Once the master reset has been performed, you can go back to using Garmin Express again.

I followed the steps of master reseting my device. I have a forerunner 15 and am experiencing the exact same issue since getting a new computer with Yosemite OSX. Other than wasting my time and deleting all my data it's had no effect whatsoever. This is extremely irritating as I'm only able to sync on my old computer now and have to keep it running just for this. Ridiculous.

I am sorry that you are having trouble with your Forerunner 15. The steps that I gave apply only to the Forerunner 310XT (in most cases). If you are getting a server error, I would recommend following the instructions in this FAQ:
How do I correct the Unable to connect with Garmin Services error message in Garmin Express?

Make sure that when you check your time and date that you also check the time zone even if the time was correct.

Thanks for the response Jason, I'll try the steps tonight and see how I go. I'll respond with the step link and outcome on my original post so it might help others with a FR15.

I followed the steps outlined here

After successfully setting the time and date on my computer it rectified the problems for me. Thanks for your help Jason.
