Cannot delete my old 910 in Garmin Express

I am having a "freezing" problem. Garmin Express loads (with the 910 as the default device) and is continuously "checking for updates" and the Device menu does not become available. All that started when I received my new 920 and attempted to delete my old 910 as a device (which I can't as the device menu seems frozen).
