Garmin Swim upload problem

I know there have been issues recently but while I'm able upload from my 310xt OK now I can't from the Garmin Swim.

The files get from the watch to the Mac OK, there are 4 files sat in the PendingSyncUploads/Activities file and 1 in the PendingSyncUploads/FIT_TYPE_4 file but none are getting to Garmin Connect.

Currently on Garmin Express 3.2.28.0 and Yosemite 10.10.1

Any ideas?

When you say none are getting to Garmin Connect can you be a little more specific please? What I mean by this is does Express say there's a transfer error? If no when you sync data does any of the data get uploaded even if its 1 out of 5 activities for example. Have you tried to manually import this data into Garmin Connect and does it successfully upload when you do?

  • Garmin express hangs saying it's trying to sync and gets no further. No error message but stays like this

I've just tried to upload todays swim manually with success but only after adding the .fit suffix myself. It appears that they are saved in the pending uploads file without it.

    Would that be an issue?

I have sent you a private message as we would like to gather more information on this issue.

Thank you for sending us the additional information we requested. Unfortunately, we are unable to duplicate the problem. It is possible that there was something wrong with that activity file which prevented it from being written to the Mac with a .fit extension. If this continues, you may need to master reset the device.

How do I master reset the Garmin Swim?

If the behavior continues after the master reset, please call Product Support for further assistance.

  • To add to this...

I tried a Master Reset which didn't work and the same behaviour continued so phoned the UK support line.

After going through a few possible options we decided to uninstall Express completely and add the devices back on as new devices which resolve the problem and the files are stored again locally with the .fit suffix and are automatically uploaded. Somewhere along the line, presumably to do with Express, they were stored without and thus they were unable to be uploaded.
