Garmin won't connect to computer

Is anyone else having this problem? I plug my garmin into the computer and the computer doesn't show that the garmin is connected and the garmin isn't charging from the computer. I have had this Garmin forerunner 10 for just over a year and have been having this problem off and on most of the time I've had the watch. The strap also fell off three or four times (garmin finally replaced the strap).

I am so irritated and not getting much response from garmin. Anyone use other running watches that they like? I'm not likely to buy another garmin (this is the third I've purchased) since the customer service hasn't been great.
  • Well it sounds like it could be possibly nothing to do with Garmin. If it's not even charging it could be a faulty USB port/connection. On the other hand it could be a faulty cable. The fact you've been having it 'off and on' possibly indicates an issue with your USB ports.
  • I don't think it's the USB port on the computer because I haven't had trouble with anything else I plug in, and I have tried several USB ports and it's still very hit or miss. I have suspected the cable but Garmin always wants me to try updating software and hasn't suggested anything for the cable.

    When the computer isn't seeing the device at all there are a few things you can do:
    • Different cable
    • Different port
    • Different computer
    • Master reset


    If none of those work then it's an issue with the device and you will need to contact support for assistance.
