No option to 'delete data on device after successful sync'

... as the title suggests. Option used to be there, but some update must have killed it. Tried deleting GE off my mac and reinstalling, deleting devices etc... We share the 910XT so my runs are polluting my girl's strava.
Any assistance? See screenshot.

Cheers :)
  • The option for Garmin Express to delete an activity from a fitness device has been removed. After much research it was determined the option was responsible for a significant loss of customer data which corresponds with customer frustration. Garmin apologizes to those of who you used the feature. Simply deleting the activity from the History menu on the device after it uploads to Connect will be the equivalent to having the feature enabled in Express.

but... it was an option? Surely people can uncheck this rather than just disabling it for all, or fix the connect servers after the undoubtedly high spike of vivo's connecting post Christmas thus not recognising transfers to GC. In any case, the .fit files are saved locally..

it seems rather poor product management to solve a technical / user behaviour problem by removing the feature, surely it could have been set to "off" by default and the risk been explained to users. It seems equally frustrating if recording of a workout stops when one might have neglected to delete previous workouts on the device manually and no memory is left.

Agreed. Instead of something that took no time on the user, I now have to spend time every couple of weeks to manually check all my activities have been uploaded then sit there while I delete them from my watch.

I also just found out today, through a few rounds of frustrating trial and error, that when my Garmin FR70 is low on memory, it starts corrupting workouts. Never happened before because the old workouts would automatically get deleted after an upload. Now, when it warns of low memory, either the current or a previous workout would get corrupted to where Garmin Express won't pull the file off my watch or if it does, the server hangs when I try to upload the fit file.
