Can't get more than 4-5% of map update

I am running Garmin Express 3.2.27.0 on Yosemite 10.10.1 with nuvi 2455.

Even updating to device version 8.20 took a few tries.

I have tried updating just Full Coverage of North America 2015.30 as well as trying it along with nuMaps Lifetime North America Download. I cannot get passed 5% on either.

I have tried doing the map updates with the nuvi plugged in as well as not plugged in.

    If you are having problems with the download portion of the map update, ensure that you are on a wired connection with all security/backup programs disabled. Also ensure that the time/date/timezone are correct on the computer.

    I just bought my computer. It has no ethernet port -_-

    I have done uninterrupted HD streams wirelessly on this and don't think the wifi is the problem.

    There seem to be other Mac users having download problems. Are you sure the problem isn't with your servers or with the Garmin Express app?

    Security/backup/date/time/timezone are not an issue.

    If I quit and restart Garmin Express enough, it looks like I will get it completed. I'm up to 6% now!

    The server problems you refer to did not affect map updates. They were affecting fitness customers at connect.garmin.com. Your Internet ISP connection type is very important. The map update is compatible with DSL or Cable connections. Wifi in the house connected to a Cable or DSL wireless router is fine but a Wifi or BLE connection to a mobile device running a hot spot is not. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Same issue here;

    I am running a Nuvi 35xx LMT, I have just installed Garmin Express V 3.2.28.0 on my Mac MacBook Pro 15" running Yosemite 10.10.1.
    The device upgrade to V8.20 ok, but cannot get passed 5% of the Australia and NZ Full coverage Maps 2015.30
    nuMaps Lifetime Australia & New Zealand is stuck at 12%.

    I have re-tried and re-tried for over 2 days now, This is not good enough.
    It is not my connection, it is not my router, everything else works fine.
    Garmin - Please address this issue, it is not isolated.

    Help please. I would like to use my device that I paid good money for.

    A little bit of investigating and it appears that Garmin use Akamai for their services.
    Previously, I had no external connections to mention;
    And then with Garmin Express running I get the following external connections;

    MacBook-Pro15:~ Darryl$ netstat -W | grep ESTAB
    tcp4 0 0 macbook-pro15.wirregar.com.52599 a118-215.118-235.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com.http ESTABLISHED
    tcp4 0 1378 macbook-pro15.wirregar.com.52600 a118-215.118-235.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com.http ESTABLISHED
    tcp4 0 987 macbook-pro15.wirregar.com.52598 a118-215.118-235.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com.http ESTABLISHED
    tcp4 0 38543 macbook-pro15.wirregar.com.52597 a118-215.118-235.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com.http ESTABLISHED
    tcp4 0 1119 macbook-pro15.wirregar.com.52596 a118-215.118-235.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com.http ESTABLISHED
    tcp4 0 1113 macbook-pro15.wirregar.com.52595 a118-215.118-235.deploy.akamaitechnologies.com.http ESTABLISHED/CODE]

    Maybe the issue is not Garmin, but Akamai and their facilities to handle the Garmin Traffic?

    Either way, Garmin - You need to look into why your services are so damn slow and unusable. I have been trying o update my maps for three days now... Not Happy!

    I am sorry for the troubles. According to your myGarmin account the City Navigator Aus & NZ NT 2015.30 map update was just generated today. I tested the download and it installed normally. Granted, I am in the US so you will be downloading from a different set of servers but the device is setup correctly in the database. Try the update again and if you have troubles please contact Garmin support in Australia.

    You're lucky to be getting the Akamai servers.

    In the last week, I've had only one or two instances where the download went on for at least 5 minutes. I think both were on chi5.gdn.garminsource.net

    I'm up to 9% now!

    Don't forget the time zones. Your today was my yesterday!

    I have been trying for three days - Using old programs, then using the new garmin express. Garmin seems to change the update procedure every time I try an update. I have had this device for over 2 years, and have updated previously easily, the new garmin express seems to be the issue.
    I have re-installed the garmin express Application, I have stopped/started again and again and again.

    Is there any way we can MANUALLY download the maps and load directly off disk, rather than use the garmin express program?
