Garmin Express on Mac won't recognize Vivosmart

Hi there,

Just got a Vivosmart this weekend. Have tried connecting to my mac to update the firmware. Downloaded and installed Garmin Express with no issue. However, the Vivosmart only charges off the Macbook Air when I plug it in, and doesn't actually recognize the device.

Tried using both USB ports on computer, still no luck.

Any tips? Thank you!

When you connect the device to the Mac have you attempted to put the device into Mass Storage mode? There are 2 modes to the device when connected one mode is just charging the other is a charge/data mode or Mass Storage mode. In the devices manual under "Computer Setup" it instructs you to hold down the battery icon until you see the USB symbol. Once you see this symbol it should go into Mass Storage mode. The symbol you could say most resembles a trident so to speak.
