Unable to send workouts to my Edge 800 via Garmin Connect

OK, so Thursday night the Garmin Connect website seemed to have completely crashed. It was back up and running last night however I have been trying unsuccesfully for the past 12 hours to send a workout I created to my Edge 800.
What happens is that I click send to device, the send to device blue box opens however there is no text or information in it. It just hangs there & needless to say the workout does not end up on my device. I have tried both Safari & Chrome on my Macbook & neither works.

As far as I can see Garmin Express is connected to my 800 (I even removed & added it back again to see if that would help). The 800 itself it accepting data--I was able to drag and drop a GPX file from Strava into it and the course showed up on the unit as usual.

Anyone else experience this & have a fix?

Merry Christmas!

Below the msg from the Java console when I try to send a workout to the device.

  • Possibly a java problem. Is yours up to date? Did you follow Curts advice re java?

I don't know why I can't send workouts anymore to my device. Has the classics upload and send to device function been discontinued? I can sync with Express my activities but cannot send workouts anymore.

I run an old PC with Windows Vista and have both Chrome and Firefox browsers.

I am sorry that you have been having trouble downloading workouts. In modern, if the screen is blank, a device has not been added to Connect through Garmin Express. I checked the account and there is a device there and I was also able to send a workout so either you have already resolved this or there is some kind of browser problem on your computer. If you are still having trouble, I would recommend trying another browser or at least clearing the cache on the current browser. To clear the browser cache, follow the instructions here: How do I clear my browser's history, cache, and temporary internet files?

If you are receiving this javascript error in Classic view, it is usually caused by a corrupt GarminDevice.XML file on your Garmin or a 3rd party plugin/extension in the browser. If you would like to post your GarminDevice.XML file from the Garmin folder on the device, we can take a look at it. Otherwise, I would disable any browser plugins or extensions that are not needed, especially if they appear to be adware.

    Hi,

I did try all of the above without success. I am having the same issue and am not able to resolve it. I had and still have a 910XT and it has always worked out without issues.

However since couple of days the functionality is gone. Same problem now with my new 910XT that I have since yesterday.

Seems there are many users that have this problem so I guess I am not the only one who would appreciate a solution. This is really a pain.

    Thanks!

What exactly is happening when you try to send a workout? Also, what web browser(s) have you tried? If you are getting a blank screen and or the javascript error that was mentioned, I would still be looking at 3rd party apps that may be interfering. I was able to send workouts from your account without any issues. If you are still having trouble, I would contact Product Support by phone.

When I try to send something to my device the following error appears on the browser control:

    "TypeError: LocaleMapper is undefined SendToDevicePageView.js:205"

I don't know if this could be useful for solving this problem.
