Weird showing of Vivofit name

In both Garmin Express and Connect displays the name of my new Vivofit shows as "V" ** vofit" where ** means the "square root symbol" followed by a "hash type symbol" (being an equals sign = with a forward slash thru the middle !

In other words the "i" of Vivofit has been replaced by 2 symbols, possibly due to a font issue somewhere in Garmin or in Apple. Any ideas to get this name showing correctly ? Anyone else see this ?

Is your Mac System Preferences -> Language & Region setting set to a Language other than English? Make sure Express is up to date, try deleting the Vivofit from Express and Connect then adding it back again.

What should I do if I'm having issues with the Garmin Express client?

Shows --- UK, Monday,Gregorian in Language/Region setting. Preferred Language = English (UK)

I can see what is causing the trouble - in the Vivofit name there should be a dot "." above the "i" of Vivofit - but the logo has instead what is being seen as an "acute" accent - a forward sloping line like the acute accents in several foreign languages, but not used in UK English - so my Mac cannot interpret the word "Vivofit" correctly.
  • I tested it on my Mac and I am unable to reproduce the weird name. What version of Express are you on? You can find that by clicking Garmin Express in the menu bar and then clicking About Garmin Express.

I would suggest changing to English US and back to UK in the settings and see if it makes any difference after a remove/repair of the device in Express.

Alternatively, you can click device and then Change Name if you would like it to appear different.
