Can't get my Garmin MacBook Pro to recognize nuvi2557LMT

I have had this nuvi2557LMT for some 6 months, have updated it a couple times on my wife's old Windows laptop, but we no longer have that computer.

I have never been able to get my MacBook Pro (bought a year ago) to recognize my unit. I just tried installing the latest version of the Garmin Express software, and it has even downloaded all updates (software and maps), but doesn't see my device.

What do I do?

Thank you.

Oh, and I should add that I also updated my OS today to Yosemite. So all should be up to date.

Thank you!! That did the trick.

It was apparently my USB cable. When I used another one I had around, it worked!

What does puzzle me though is that whenever I used the cable supplied with the product, it would power-up, and I have used this cable no problem on my wife's computer, but it wouldn't recognize a connection on this Mac.

At any rate, it is installing the maps right now.

    Again, thank you!!
