problems with uploading data form garmin 910xt

I have been having problems uploading data from bike rides with garmin express, it says it has synced but the activity is not shown on garmin connect.
I have looked in the library folders for the activities, but they are saved as a .fit folder which I can't open, or upload.

I am sorry that you are having trouble uploading your activities. If the Fit files are in your Library, you can upload them to connect manually. To upload them manually:
    • Log in to Garmin Connect
    • Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines at the top left corner of the screen)
    • Click Activities
    • Click Import
    • Click Choose File or Browse
    • Browse to the Fit file that you would like to upload
    • Click Open
    • Click Upload activities from file

If the activity is not in your Library but is still on the watch, you can resend all of your activities to Connect by following the instructions in the FAQ below:
How can I resend my history from my wireless watch to my computer?

  • It comes back with the message that some activities could not be created, this is the second time a bike file has been corrupt this month. I don't have it saved on my garmin device, as I read on another thread to set garmin to delete uploaded activities. Any idea what I should do? Is it a device issue?
  • With Garmin Express you should set it not to delete after successful synch. Try that and see if the problem manifests itself again.
  • It was set to that before, and the file became corrupt so advice was to delete after syncing
  • That's interesting. Where was that recommendation posted?

Our experience (n=2) is that problems only happen when the box is checked.
