Can't connect Garmin Express with Fenix 2

So I have received a new Fenix 2. The first thing I did was to connect it to the computer so I could update it to the latest firmware, but Garmin Express will refuse to recognize it. The only thing it shows is the following: "Garmin Express does not support this device. Please download and use Garmin Map Updater"

I'm on OSx 10.10 and have downloaded latest Garmin Express from the website.
  • I have tried with Windows 8.1 with the same result!!!

    Bad start for sure...

The message "Garmin Express does not support this device. Please download and use Garmin Map Updater" was known and reported fixed by the developers in Garmin Express v3.2.21. Please verify that Garmin Express is up to date.

How do I update Garmin Express?

    Curt
  • Garmin Express is up to date

The message I receive is exactly the same (and this is the third computer I try it on)

I am sorry that you have had trouble adding your device to Garmin Express. It appears that you have resolved this issue today since the device is now added to your account. Let me know if you are still having trouble.

  • No, I'm still receiving the same message. It is on my account because I was able to sync it with the phone.

I have also tried Win 7 with the same results.

I have even updated the watch to 4.00 manually (i couldn't do it with Web Udpater either), but Garmin Express still won't recognize it

I am also having this issue, both on a Windows 7 PC and a Mac running Yosemite.
Garmin Express has been deleted and reinstalled
Created a new computer user account and reinstalled
I've done a hard reset on my watch but still no luck.

    I sent you a PM.

Sorry to say it... but I'm happy to see that I'm not alone in the boat.

After reviewing the logs, it appears that there is a communication issue between your watch and your Mac where your device is not connecting as a Mass Storage device. Please try the following:

    Try another USB port.
Make sure that the watch is connected directly to the Mac. Avoid connecting to the monitor, keyboard, USB hub, etc.
    Try another USB cable.
Disconnect all other USB devices (i.e. printers, scanners, external drives, etc.) if the issue continues.

On the PC, it appears that there was actually an issue with your computer connecting to our servers. Please follow the instructions in the FAQ below to resolve these issues:
How do I correct the Unable to connect with Garmin Services error message in Garmin Express?

If the problems continue, it would be best to contact product support by phone.

  • Ok, I have just been able to sync it with one of my macs, one with 10.9 installed.

    Thank you for your support
