This has been going on for the better part of a month. I have read post after posts, and it just keeps happening. I ran 13 on Sunday, data transferred fine. I run 7 today, watch the watch and Garmin express go through transfer data screens, but NO DATA in GC. Why is this happening?? I am very disappointed in Garmin Express. This NEVER happened with the old app.
I'm not sure why Express would claim a successful sync and not transfer the data. Please check the location below for the activity file. Files are named based on the date of the activity.
Click the Finder icon on the Dock
Click the Go menu at the top in the Menu bar
Click Go to Folder
Type ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/GarminConnect/
Open the Forerunner 910XT folder
Open the FIT_TYPE_4 folder
Locate the file for 9-24-2014
If the file is there then some type of Network issue might have caused it not to transfer. You can use the instructions in the FAQ: How do I manually upload data from ANT devices to Garmin Connect?to upload the data.
If the file is not there use the Settings->History->Transfer All menu on the 910XT to transfer the data again.
folder structure is different than described and that file isn't listed...
I followed your steps as listed. I have a folder named Forerunner 910XT-3858009285, however, the only folder beneath this is "Upload" which contains just 1 folder titled FIT_TYPE_9.
Within this folder is just 1 file named '1989-12-31 00/00/00 +0000_65535.fit'
Perhaps something is wrong with my installation??
Previously I followed the instructions for manual upload and got lost along the way for the same reason... there are no FIT files to be found to actually perform a manual upload.
That file is just weight data. You can delete it to see if that file is causing problems. Also, are you on the most current version of Express? How do I update Garmin Express?
One that is done, try again and let us know if it works.
My GE is the latest version, I upgraded the other day. The file structure under Garmin Connect concerns me. I have 2 folders: a. Forerunner 910XT-3858009285 (which contains the folder FIT_TYPE_9, and the aforementioned "weight file" b. -3858009285 (which contains the folder FIT_TYPE_4, and the *.fit files from my latest workouts. (though 9/24/14 is not present.)
So I'm wondering is this the problem? Perhaps GE doesn't know where to put the files?? Also, if I try to re-sync and pickup the 9/24 workout, GE says there is nothing new to sync. But on the watch, the run is clearly there in the History. Since I cannot manually upload (b/c there's no file to grab), then I am in limbo. What do I do, and why does this keep happening??
Deleting the FIT_TYPE_9 file from the computer will force it to resend the data(If it actually needs too) and see if the file that is currently in the folder is corrupt for some reason. This may clear up the way for the 9/24 workout to complete. If it doesn't, the 9/24 workout itself is corrupt and will need to be deleted from the watch.
