GC / GC / training plan

Ive decided to choose one of your marathon training plan, I've loaded it to my calendar, then sent the 44 workouts to my device.
When I do this, it switches to GE, then appears to do nothing, then when I move back to Safari, it tells me if GE isn't open to open it ?
It then doesn't do anything? and my 44 workouts still sit in my 'outbox'

help?!
  • Depending on the device, ensure that it is connected to the computer and currently paired with Express. Also ensure that express is up to date and started: How do I update Garmin Express?

    Thanks Albert,
its my fenix2, which is connected (and too note I have multiple watches configured on GE). I know this as when I connect GE comes up and shows a green tick and says connected
Also GE runs at startup, so is always running in the background,

Do you have more then one fenix2? Make sure you select the right one on the Calendar->Send to Device window and have the right one selected in Garmin Express. If you have another device selected in Express, the Sync should still complete but Express will not show any progress. It will look like nothing is happening.

If you are sure of the suggestions above, make sure Connect calendar is able to create the workout files on your computer.

    Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/RegisteredDevices/unitid of your fenix/PendingSyncDownloads/

The PendingSyncDownloads folder should have a separate file for each of the workouts along with another for the Schedule data. If this folder is empty then Connect is not able to get through Security or Network settings to create the files. Internet Connection type and Internet Connection Security are the biggest cause for that. If the files are there but will not transfer to the fenix2 during the sync process then there could be an issue with permissions on the fenix2 when it is connected. Avoid connecting the USB clip to an external USB hub or a Keyboard USB port. Check "Get Info -> Sharing & Permissions" for the fenix2 to make sure you have Read and Write permissions while it is connected.

Deleting the watch from Express and the Garmin Connect account is a good way to start over and clear the Calendar/Training Plan Sync process. Add the fenix2 back to Garmin Express and try again. A sync this large will take considerably longer than usual so if it the files are in the PendingDownloads folder and it starts, let it run until it completes or displays an error message.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Instructions to open the Library folder:

    • Open Finder
    • Click Go (at the top of the menu bar)
    • Select Home
    • Click Go (at the top of the menu bar)
    • Click Go to Folder
    • Type Library
    • Click Go button

Under /Library/Application Support/ I do not have a Garmin directory?
on the same MAC computer I am able to sync a garmin 310XT

Under my Mac account its the only denice that you see under Garmin Express
I also deleted the fenix2 from garmin connect and garmin express and attempted to resend the marathon workouts

I was able to create a personal workout on GC then send it to device which worked
  • If you have more than one device saved to Garmin Express and Syncing with Connect then you were in the wrong Library/Application Support folder. The Garmin folder has to be in the Application Support folder if you have devices saved to Express.

In the instructions you must pay attention to Step 3 and click on Home before moving on.

    1. Click the Finder icon
    2. Click the Go menu
    3. Click Go to Folder
    4. Type exactly ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin
    5. Click Go

That will get you half way to the path in post #4. Open the respective folders to get to the PendingSyncDownloads folder and delete the contents then send the Training Plan from Connect again.

thanks Curt, I was able to find the folder correctly, though there are no devices. And whilst the previous note indicated that it was a network or security settings, I have been able to create an individual workout, which downloaded to my watch perfectly?
