Garmin Nuvi 2798 Trip logs - short life; can they be saved on PND?

I have a Garmin 2798. I just returned from a lengthy trip and discovered that the unit retained only three days of trip logs. Is there a way to have the trip logs saved for a longer period of time?

I have reviewed the manual for this product and it is virtually useless with regards to any useful information on the trip logs.

(I am referring to the trip logs that record location, time, altitude, etc., not the simple trip mileage).

I don't know if the 2798 does this (my 1490T does) but some models archive trip logs, in GPX files, in the GPX\Archive folder on the device. You can import them into BaseCamp (or whatever).
