310XT now won't sync to Garmin Express despite latest software update

310xt has software version 4.50 running on Macbook Air with software OS X 10.9.4 with Garmin Express software version 3.2.18.0.

It was syncing just fine in mid July, but the last several weeks I've tried all the "solutions" posted in Threads to reset Forerunner and reinstall Garmin Express. Each time, it recognizes the Forerunner and goes into Transferring Data, but after about 15 seconds, the Forerunner goes back to normal screen and Garmin Express freezes on Syncing... <1 minute remaining...

Please help!
  • It's possible there is a corrupt file on the computer that needs to be removed.
    Go to the following location and if you see files in the Pending Sync Uploads folder move them to the trash and empty the trash
    ~user/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/RegisteredDevices/[Unit ID]/PendingSyncUploads

    If the problem persists I would suggest calling Garmin Support

    I have the same problem, on a macbook. The location above doesn't exist, I get to Garmin/ then have Ant agent instead of Express (despite having had to install Express at least 3 times now, of no apparent reason). Any ideas please?

    I would call Garmin Support but the time waiting on hold would exceed the price of the watch. Are Garmin going to improve Express soon as it has obvious problems. Or find an alternative means to upload my data please?

  • Have you removed the 310XT from Express - Removed the Device from Garmin Connect, then added it back? If you have removed from Express but cannot get it added back to Express use the instructions to delete the UnitID folder from the locations below. The Library folder in question has been hidden on the Mac OS since 10.7. Follow the instructions below to get to it.

    • Click the Finder icon on the dock
    • Click the Go menu in the Menu bar at the top of the screen
    • Click Go to Folder
    • Type this exactly ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express
    • Click Go
    • Open the RegisteredDevices folder and delete the UnitID

    In the same Application Support/Garmin location open the Devices folder and delete the UnitID folder from there as well. If you haven't deleted the device from Express please use the FAQ: How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express?

    Thanks Curt,

    Done most of that, however, deleting the 310XT from Garmin Connect prompts this question; "Are you sure you want to delete this item? This action cannot be undone. All settings for this device on your account will be deleted"
    Is this just device settings not data etc that will be lost permanently?

  • The data uploaded to Connect from the watch is not lost when removing the device from Express.
