Forerunner 10 not recognised by Modern

Like many others I am unimpressed with the 'modern' Connect. I'm following all the instructions but 'modern' will not detect my Forerunner 10. The Upload button on 'classic' works fine and always has done.

I have the latest version of Express and it is successfully detecting my F10.
'classic' detects my F10

I'm assuming that 'modern' does not detect Express

I'm more than happy to continue using 'classic' but it looks like Garmin are going to stop offering it. What then?!

    Can you please explain in a little more detail when you say that is not being detected? What I mean by this is I tested the Forerunner 10 on my Mac. Express 3.2.17 found my device and uploaded my data to Garmin connect. In Garmin Connect (Modern) it sees my device and I can view my activities. I have the option under activities to "Import" if for some reason Express didn't upload all my data but it did. When I go to the devices section of Connect it sees my FR 10 and when I click on the device it shows all my device information and the last Sync time which shows today at 9:26AM.

  • If you open express, does it show that it's syncing with CG? Are you syncing to the account you are looking at in connect?

    I am having a similar problem. I have a Forerunner 10 that is not showing up in Garmin Connect Modern but when I switch to Classic all I need to do is click on Upload and my device shows up and I can upload my runs. On Garmin Connect Modern under Devices it reads "You have no device on Garmin Connect. Add a device using Garmin Express" I did that and nothing has changed. I restarted my computer after the download, deleted it and tried downloading it again. Still no go.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Even though your not technically having issues with Garmin Express. Please follow the instructions in the FAQ: What should I do if I'm having issues with the Garmin Express client?

    Let us know if you receive any error messages when syncing with an existing account in Express.

    Thank you for the info. I followed the instructions in the FAQ and when I get open Garmin Express with my device attached and click Get Started I get a window with Device Found and my Forerunner 10 shows up with an option to add device. I clicked it and then choose the option to add to an existing account. Once I get to the sign in page I get stuck. I enter my user name and password and the same window keeps popping up, it won't go past that screen. I do have the latest version of Garmin Express.

    I sent you a PM with some information. If you are still having trouble, there could be an issue with the Keychain on your Mac user account. You can try creating a new user profile on your Mac or repairing the Keychain. To repair the Keychain:
    • Open Finder
    • Click Go from the Apple Menu Bar
    • Click Utilities
    • Double-click Keychain Access
    • Click Keychain Access on the Apple menu bar
    • Click Keychain First Aid
    • Enter your Mac username and password
    • Select Repair
    • Click Start

    Once the repair is complete, try adding your device to Garmin Express again.

    I am having the same problem with my new Forerunner 10. I can see my device on Garmin Connect, and it shows the record I manually entered yesterday but one of the panes says I have no device connected, which isn't true. I am instructed to download GarminExpress, which I have done 4 times, and installed it. I have the plug-in, I have told my computer to allow the plug-in. I have tried on both Chrome and Safari. Any clever suggestions would be appreciated. I clicked on the black trianlge on my menu bar, and it is asking me for a code provided by Garmin Customer Care...What code? Thank you.

    You mentioned you have Express downloaded and installed but have you added the Forerunner 10 to the application? Express will give you the option to create a new Garmin Connect account or Sync with an existing account. Once you enter your Garmin Connect username and password, the Forerunner 10 will be added to the Device pane(menu) in Connect Modern view.

    I suggest you try deleting the Forerunner 10 from Express then adding it back. Please see the FAQ: How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express?
