Problem with 910XT

My 910XT has been failing syncs for over a week now. Of course it doesn't say why. No lost data that I know of. Nothing changed on my end to cause this (unless a ANT stick went bad). Reinstalled Express software, double checked all settings. After all that failed like 80 times, I even installed the old ANT Agent. First sync failed quickly, then the second (36 minutes later) failed with 2% remaining.

If I'm being completely honest, getting pretty fed up with the whole Garmin Connect experience the last few months, and I'm hardly the only one. I have to help athletes on almost a daily basis get this working after I sell it to them (which is embarrassing). I can't even imagine what you poor tech support people are going through. I typically embrace new things and software, but Garmin has bitten off way more than they can chew lately. Can someone ask the Garmin brass to focus on making existing things work and exercise trickle in implementation, rather than trying to bulk add features to keep up with the Joneses?
  • Well something's wrong with your system, all works fine for me.

If you have Ant agent and Express installed there'll be a conflict so I suggest you completely uninstall Ant agent.

Then work through these 2 FAQs as appropriate:

Why not you? Please realize that this is essentially a user to user help forum. The mods are volunteers with no affiliation to Garmin except they own some of Garmins stuff. If you need Garmin to hear you then you need to try the Submit Ideas to Garmin link below.

Thanks. I'm actually a computer tech, so I went through all that already. Both programs have been installed and uninstalled multiple times on multiple machines. I also tried another Windows machine that's never had ANT Agent. All failed. All all the pairing etc.. is correct. No failure details are provided.

One thing I noticed when trying again today, was that it looked like it might be failing on an activity from 1989. This activity is not on the device to delete manually.

@Voicersponse I've seen Garmin employees replying in this forum, which is why I said that. I'll probably have to call them. They haven't responded on social media.

If you have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and nothing has changed it could be on the 910 where the issue is. The next thing that leads me to this is that you indicated you tried a different computer and still got the same issue. With all this it looks like the watch has some corruption in it. What you may need to do in this situation is reset the 910Xt see FAQ: How do I master reset my Forerunner 910XT? The info showing from 1989 is from the Tanita scale I can only assume you have one of these. Since the scale has no date and time stamp in it that's why it shows the date of 1989.

Sorry, but I have to agree with couch. I had the old blue Forerunner 205 and the red 305. It looked like i was running with a laptop on my wrist, but it worked well and it was easy to sync with no disruptions. I upgraded to the new 910 XT several months ago and have not been able to sync my workouts once. I spent an hour on the phone with a very nice tech support agent and they sent me a new ANT stick. I also have tried to sync on different computers with no success. I enjoy Garmin products and I am told by running enthusiasts that they are better than Timex, Polar and others, but as of late I'd have to disagree. This shouldn't be this hard. In reading through this forum, I keep reading install/ uninstall, over and over. Is that seriously good enough with Garmin? That isn't seen as a problem that needs addressing? Asking your customers to work this hard to use the basic features of the watch?
