Express temporarily unavailable???

My wife and I have been trying to use Garmin Express for Mac for the last several days to no avail. This is our first time with Express and she gave up and switched back to classic view to use the upload feature. We find this all rather frustrating.
The message we continue to get is this….

"There's a problem with our servers which means Express is temporarily unavailable. We're working as fast as we can to get it back up and running. Please try again later."

We keep trying "later" --- what's up with this?
  • The response you are getting most likely means that there is a conflict with you signing into Garmin Connect or in rare cases could be an issue with specific models. Which device is it?
Do you and your wife use the same Garmin Connect account or do you have two? Having two accounts on a Mac can cause trouble because of the way the Mac's Keychain Utility handles usernames and passwords. Each connect accounts needs its own Mac user account. I suggest you delete the device from Express, delete the Keychain entry then pair it again.

    Delete the Keychain:

    Open Finder
Click Go in the top menu bar
    Click Utilities
    Open Keychain Access.app from Utilities
    Click com.garmin.cartography.mapupdate.express.auth
Click Edit in the top menu bar
    Click Delete and confirm deletion
    Empty Trash

I am having the same issue forerunner 310XT on Max OSX 10.8. I've been trying for about a week and nothing works. I tried deleting from the keychain, but that didn't work. I restarted and nothing. Not sure what else to try at this point.

Its sounds like there is some data left over from the ANT Agent that is causing the Sync problem with Garmin Express. The best thing to do is to Remove the device(s) from the Garmin ANT Agent before installing Garmin Express. Doing this will delete the ANT related files.

    • Open ANT Agent software
    • Click on Device menu
    • Select Manage Paired Devices, and select the Forerunner from the pull down menu
    • Click on remove Forerunner

Once all devices are removed from the ANT Agent install the latest version of Garmin Express from http://connect.garmin.com

As last resort performing a master reset on the Forerunner 310XT may be needed. See the FAQ: How do I master reset my Forerunner 310XT?
