Editing transferred favorites?

I transferred my favourites from my old Nuvi (370) to my new one (2455LMT) using Express, but the address information didn't come along with them, even though it was in the .gpx file. It used to display on my old Nuvi, and I'd prefer it if it did on my new one. If I create a new favourite with address information on the 2455 it displays the address and stores it in a different category of favourites with addresses.

If I select the favourite to edit it, I can't even add the address manually. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the original address information stored in my old Nuvi to display on the new one (without having to recreate all of them from scratch, that is) or, failing that, to add it selectively to the imported favourites?

When backing up data in Express the program doesn't change the data. What Express does is basically copies the file from your 1st device onto a folder designated by Express. When you look to restore or transfer this file to a new unit it just copies the file to the new destination. If the new unit didn't get the address information then the original data could have been corrupted.

There is another option to transfer your data from one device to another you can use our free mapping utility program called BaseCamp. What you can do is download BaseCamp and install it. Once you have it installed attach your older Nuvi and send your data into BaseCamp. After the data is uploaded into BaseCamp remove the device and plug-in your 2nd/newer device and then transfer the data to the new unit. If the data was received you should now have all your waypoints in the newer device.

  • Your other option is to do manually what Express does. Copy current.gpx from the GPX folder in your old nuvi, rename it temp.gpx and install it in the GPX folder of your new nuvi.

Now when you boot your new nuvi it will merge all the data from temp.gpx into your Favourites etc.

Once it's done that (and this also applies if you use Basecamp) be sure to go back and delete temp.gpx. If you don't that will create issues later on as you won't be able to permanently delete any data that was merged from temp.gpx into your nuvi.
