Nuvi 50LM Does not connect to Garmin Express

Hello.

I have not been able to connect my Nuvi 50LM to Garmin Express on 3 different computers. Every time I try to connect my device to the computer this is what I get (see attached screenshot). The computer I am currently using is a Macbook Pro running on OSX 10.9.4.

Side note: The USB cable does work (the device is charging when plugged into the computer). I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Garmin Express several times.

Any thoughts on how I can resolve this issue?

    Note the fact the nuvi is charging doesn't mean the cable is working correctly, ensure it's the original Garmin cable.
