910 XT MAC downloading data to device issues

Hi - Help very much needed.

910XT forerunner 2.20 firmware - Mac latest OS - chrome /firefox - old and new version of Connect.

After installation of Garmin Express - I have been enable to download data (calendar, training plans) to the device.

The device is :
No devices found.
Please connect your device now and try again.

On the old and new version.

I tried reinstalling Express.
Using Ant agent again - but pairing fails now.

------
The only think i can think of is doing a complete delete of all data on my computer and device and try again. I am not sure that that would work and I d rather try alternative solutions if any.

Help would be very welcome

----
Note that data transfer from device to Express and to Connect is flawless.
  • Hi Curt,
Thank you for quick reply, to answer your questions.

What pages in Connect Modern are you trying to send from?

    Calendar? YES
    Workouts? YES
    Courses? YES
    Training Plans? Only from Calendar.

    1. Are there any items in the Sync menu on Connect Modern still waiting to be sent to the Forerunner 910XT? If so please delete them.
No item. Beside the watch is visible on the menu. I did delete it and reinstalled it.

    2. Clean out any old download items for the 910XT from the Mac.
I did wipe out everything, on mac. Reinstalled Express. Cleaned the watch. And like mentioned, I also tried on PC - So the issue is probably not some bad data left from former installation of ANT agent or bad installation of GExpress.

Go to: ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/Registered Devices/unit id/PendingSyncDownloads/ delete all files from this location then Empty the Trash on the Mac.
Will try to do that now.

    3. You mentioned earlier that you went back to the ANT Agent. Let make sure all data associated with the ANT Agent is deleted from the computer.
I tried on the early stage to use back ANT agent as it was working before the switch- but it doesnt seem to be supported now. It was removed when I reinstalled Express on second time.

Quit Express from the black triangle icon in the Menu Bar up top
    Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Devices/
Delete the unitid folder for the 910XT
    Empty Trash on Mac
Open Express from Applications and try again.

    Will try to do that.

    4. What Language is your Mac OSX running?
    English.

  • I do not see the above mentioned folders in Garmin Express
    see pictures

You will want to clean up the remaining ANT Agent data since uninstalling the application does not delete it. If you were unaware of the hidden Users Library folder then then clean out you mentioned in Step 2 would not have been complete. It looks like you are in the MacintoshHD Library folder instead of the Users/Library folder.

    • To open the correct Library folder:
    • Click the Finder icon on the dock
    • Click the Go menu
    • Click Go to Folder
    • Type or copy and paste the path exactly ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Devices/
    • Click Go

You can use this method for accessing the 2 folders in the previous post.

  • Hello, ---- Need Help ---
I've a garmin forerunner 910xt, since I've downloaded Garmin Express it doesn't recognize the connection at all,
I've uninstalled all and tried to use ANT agent&again... but it does not work at all both in the old way (ANT+ Agent only, with Express correctly uninstalled), and also using Express alone (ANT uninst.) or Ant+ & Express installed toghether on Mac ( neither USB or AntAgent Bluetooth tool)anuals instructions Manuals and downloaded on my mac all the updates of "WebUpdater, Ant+Agent, GarminCommunicator plugin, Garmin Express ecc) more than 10 times, following straight the instruction but..
even if I connect my forerunner with the USB cable the mac does not recognize it (I have followed the same actions on two different computers without results both with USB cable and Ant+Agent, and Garmin Express)

Please help me, I have more than 20 outdoor trainings to synchronize in internet..
    Thanks

The Forerunner 910XT communicates with the computer through the ANT Stick only. The USB cable is only for charging the device. Garmin Express is the only application you will need for sending data to Garmin Connect. It sounds like you need to enable pairing on the watch itself. Please see the information in the FAQ: What troubleshooting options can I try when my ANT enabled fitness device will not upload data?

  • Hi Curt,
I have tried the method proposed above without success -even if I admit I am not sure that I did exactly what you mentioned.
However - the fact that installing Garmin Express on another computer and having the same issues points out that this is not a bad data problem left from a former installation.

I can only come up with three possibilities:
    1. Ant Stick is faulty. > it uploads fine though.
    2. Connexion is faulty (china ?- new site speed ? I am experiencing a very slow site on modern and even on the classic after upgrade)
    3. Software is faulty. That would mean I can't do anything about it.

    In any case:
I have tried to remove the watch from Express.
    Reinstall express.
    Delete everything.
    Format the watch.
    Tried on different devices.

I am, since the upgrade, unable to make use of the capacities of the watch And it's a shame. :(
  • After talk to my tri team it appears that :
    2. Connexion is faulty (china ?- new site speed ? I am experiencing a very slow site on modern and even on the classic after upgrade)
    3. Software is faulty. That would mean I can't do anything about it.

    any fixes would be welcome.
  • Hi - for some reason I managed to send to device from Classic view today - modern is still failing.
  • FYI (goals not working)

    100% software issue

I have tested this on a few different Forerunner 910XT devices here and the transfers are working as they should. The only difference that I can spot is that you are using a Chinese Forunner 910XT which may have a different feature set than the devices that we have available in the United states. This may cause unexpected results when using the US Garmin Connect site and also make the device difficult to support here in the United States.

First, please make sure that you are using the connect.garmin.cn website instead of connect.garmin.com. You should be able to log in with the same credentials and your data should be available. If you are still experiencing issues with transferring data, I would recommend contacting Garmin's Support for China customers. The Garmin website for China is www.garmin.com.cn.
