Express continues to say I need to update map

Similar problem here: Express keeps offering 'updates' - which turns out to be new Europe maps ('NT 2014.40').
But the maps are already on my nüvi (+SD-card) - and have been there since June, 30!
I believe I used another installation app(?) for the installation: Downloaded to computer first and then copied to GPS - the problem being that Express claimed there was insufficient storage space on the unit(s). I believe that old map versions are not automatically 'overwritten' on the memory card(?).

I suppose my current problem stems from the fact, that Express doesn't 'know' that the maps are in place(?) How can I correct that??

Your assumption is correct. Either ignore the message or use Express to download the map. If you don't want to download it to your device just use a cloned device, if you're unsure how to do that ask.

Well, it doesn't happen every time I boot, so I'm inclined to just ignore it; but out of sheer curiosity: How do I 'use a cloned device'? And btw: Will the 'clone procedure' also take several hours??

Well it'll take as long as it takes. To create a clone copy the GarminDevice.xml file from the Garmin folder on your device to a Garmin folder on the sd card/usb stick. Insert that into your PC and Express will believe it's your device.

In that case I think I'll 'live with it as is'! :) (Next map update will hopefully remove the nuisance).
Another strange phenomenon is that Express periodically suggests to (re)install itself!?
The reason might be that I left the 'installer' (GarminExpressinstaller.dmg) on the hard drive(??).

Thanks - I have moved the installation file to the waste basket, and I doubt that it would manage to 'pop up' from there!? If it does, I'll empty the bin! :cool:
