How to make room on my garmin nuvi 2445LM for new maps ?

Hi Garmin users!

I just bought a pack (City Navigator North America NT - Lower 49 States) in prevision for our road trip next August in the US.
When we try to install it from our navigator (myGarmin dashboard), interface tells us the device is almost full and the space available is not enough for the US pack.
On our Garmin device, there is currently a Europe pack for something around 2-2.5 Go.

So my question is this : how could I delete my Europe maps pack from my device in order to make room and load up the US maps pack instead that I just bought ?
I can't seem to find the option on Garmin Express. Actually, I don't even have the option to install the US pack on Garmin Express. There is only the Europe update available.

PS : I know, I know, we could just use an SD card, but we don't have any, we don't plan on buying one just for this, so is there another way ! :D

Thanks very much for your time and answers

Regards
  • Not really. Your device needs the pre-installed map, without that I'm not sure it will work correctly. A new map isn't downloaded through Express but through the myMaps tab in your myGarmin.

You purchased the correct maps for the Nuvi 2445LMT Europe model. The 8BG microSD card is a requirement for downloading the North America maps. The preloaded Europe maps cannot be removed to make room for the North America maps. microSD cards are inexpensive and can be purchased and at any consumer electronics store. Another option would be to contact Garmin France and cancel the order then purchase the maps preloaded on a microSD card.
