Where are temp map files located on iMac?

I just tried for the first time to update maps on my iMac using Garmin express. It took 4 hours, failed and ate 5gb of hard drive! The Garmin installer asked me to clear out the temporary files but I have no idea where they are!! I have 'Disk Doctor' and nothing flags up in that so where has my 5gb gone!?
Any help appreciated :)

How much free space is on your Mac? The error you received sometimes pops up when there is limited space on the computer. To clean up temporary files on a Mac you normally just need to restart the system. In some cases manually cleaning up temp folder may be necessary but the location is hidden and deep in the Mac directory. What you may also want to do is clean out your trash this can also clean up space. Once this is done try deleting the device from Express and re-adding back then try the update again.

Thanks Mike....You are right about me not having a lot of space, I do think that was why it failed as I only had 6gb free at the time. However, re-booting hasn't cleared it plus I have 'disk doctor' that clears out temp files and I have emptied trash etc and it all makes no difference. I'd just like Garmin to tell me where their particular files go on an iMac and then I can clear out the space as I still have 5gb missing. Thanks again.

The Express software may require up to 13GB of free space on the hard drive. All the space may not be used as some of the space is used for the building of the mapping and configuration prior to it being sent to the device. The Garmin software is installed to the following location on the hard drive /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express.
