Garmin 910xt will not sync with Garmin Express, Ant+ OR GTC on mac

When I first installed GE, my 910xt would sync without fail but recently it just plain stopped. GE doesn't recognize it all ALL. I tried uninstalling GE, reinstalling GE, restarting - all that. None of that worked. I also reinstalled ANT+ after I uninstalled GE and even that did not work (FYI: I confirmed pairing is enabled and on.) Nor did Garmin Training Center "find" my 910. My Garmin edge 800 syncs fine with GE on my mac and if I attempt to sync my 910xt on my back-up, windows based laptop that still has ANT+ installed, it will sync without fail. Anyone else have this issue? It seems like my mac for whatever reason can not "find" my Garmin 910xt but other machines can and overall my mac can "find" other Garmin devices. Looking around on line I haven't found much information on how to resolve this....
  • fixed it. updated OS to 10.9.4, deleted device from GE, uninstalled GE, turned off pairing, reinstalled GE, reenabled pairing/turned pairing back on, scanned for device and it FINALLY synced. you have to do it in that EXACT order.

    Hello Curt,

I am having the exact same issue. Garmin ant agent stopped finding my forerunner 910XT on mac (OS 10.9.5) It does work however in a Windows machine. Nor Garmin express nor ant agent can find the watch. Please support, what can I do? I tried uninstalling and re-installing everything.

    Best,
    Jaime

I am sorry for the troubles. At this point you should be working exclusively with Garmin Express on the Mac. Have you gone through the suggestions in the FAQ: What troubleshooting options can I try when my ANT enabled fitness device will not upload data?

  • Curt,
I'm having similar problems with my Forerunner 610. Fortunately, I synced with Ant+ Agent software this morning, prior to installing Garmin Express. It seemed to work fine and all of my data is now at Garmin Connect.

I downloaded Garmin Express (GE) and installed it.
    I started GE.
It recognized my Forerunner 610 and seemed to update the GPS firmware.
GE indicates I need to update (or install?) the Time Zone Map. Pressing the "Install" or "Install All" buttons do not produce any response that I can discern.
The "Sync" dialogue has the following separate lines of text: "Searching for Device...", "Uploading to Garmin Connect", and "Waiting to transfer..."

I went through the instructions in the link you provided above, including creating a new activity of 10 second duration, and got the same results.

I'm using a MacBook pro running OS 10.9.5 and GE 3.2.19.0.

Would doing a Master Reset help?

    Thanks for any help.

    Matt
  • I don't think you need to do a master reset...but what would I know LOL? I hate doing them unless really necessary. it's too much of a pain setting up the device again.

Make sure ANT Agent is fully removed from your MacBook.

I would then do what the original poster did in the 2nd post:

Remove your device from Garmin Express and disconnect from your Garmin Connect account.
Uninstall Garmin Express - a reboot is not necessary but I would reboot just because :-)
    Reinstall Garmin Express
Re-Pair your device with Garmin Express
Re-connect to your Garmin Connect account
    Test

The key is to make sure there are no legacy ANT Agent files lurking around. I have this running in the background to clear stuff out when deleting apps - AppDelete. Handy little utility that clears the crap out when deleting apps.
  • Philip,
Thank you for your help! Everything works fine now. I think the key was, as you emphasized, removing stray ANT Agent files.
The following link was very helpful in this:

    Thanks again,
    Matt

Still no luck for me. I tried removing both garmin express and ant agent. I tried installing one or the other but my device is still not detected.

    Any other tips?
    Thanks!
  • Obvious questions I know, but is pairing enabled on your 910, the 910 turned on or connected to the charging cable and the USB stick in a working USB port?

Yes it is enabled. I tried it in a Windows PC with ant agent and it worked perfectly (so I guess the hardware works). The garmin express detects the ant+ usb plugged in (or at least that is what it says). And finally I tried both, plugged and not plugged (turned on).

Thanks a lot for your help.
