My wife was nice enough to upgrade my old Garmin Forerunner 305 to a Garmin Forerunner 620. Unfortunately, I have been unable to connect to my home network via WiFi. I've got a mid-2010 MacBook, so no dual processor i.e. Parallels solution. Everything else in my house has no problem signing onto the network (Roku, Samsung TV, iPhones, iPad, Sony BlueRay player), so I'm assuming this is still a Garmin-Mac issue. Did Garmin ever fix this problem with WiFi linking? Are they planning to address it? By the way, I can see my network in Garmin Express and the password is correct but my watch keeps just saying "Setup WiFi using Garmin Express". Also, Garmin express keeps adding my network to the list every time I hook my watch up by USB, so it had 5 copies of the network las time I checked. I already emailed Garmin customer service about this 2 days ago, but I have not received any support. If I can't find a solution to this problem, I will have to return my Forerunner. Thanks for any help with this matter.
What version OS is running on the Mac?
Please refer to the following FAQ for a possible resolution: http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/simpleCase.htm?caseId={c55331c0-463d-11e3-f27b-000000000000}&kbName=garmin
I am also having the same problem as the above person. I have followed instructions and entered the information for my network correctly on garmin express. I have confirmed as per your supplied link that my router is backward compatible with 802.11g devices. Despite this I am receiving this message when I press connect on the watch or go to the wifi in the settings menu, 'Setup WiFi using Garmin Express'.
I am sorry that you are having trouble with your Forerunners. I just tested this on my Mac with the latest version of Garmin Express and the network information saved as it should. Please try these steps:
Make sure Garmin Express is up to date (currently v4.0.4)
Remove the device from Garmin Express
Restart your Mac
Re-add the device to Garmin Express and set up the wi-fi network again
Since you have had your watch since 2010 but even though it has never worked correctly on your network it still may have the issue with the firmware described in this post.
