Garmin Express not detecting device

Im trying to setup a Garmin Nuvi 52 LM on my MacBook.

I've installed Garmin Express and now it's asking me to connect the device. I've connected it via USB and my MacBook can detect it as it's showing up in the Finder sidebar, also the screen lights up on the device.

But Garmin Express keeps saying 'No Device Found' no matter how many times I unplug / plug it back in and click 'try again'

Is this a known issue?
