Edge 305 and Forerunner 310XT not connecting

I have a MacBook Pro mid-2010, 8GB RAM, latest version of OS X. This morning I installed Garmin Express as I saw it now supports my two Garmin devices.

I have restarted the computer since installing Express just in case this makes a difference.

With the Edge 305 connected over USB, Express 3.2.6 claims "No device found."

With the ANT+ stick connected and my Forerunner 310XT turned on and nearby (indeed, exactly where it was when I uploaded a workout with the ANT agent twenty minutes ago) I get the same response from Express.

Any ideas?
  • Following myself up:

I created a test user on my Mac and logged in as that user.

When I opened Garmin Express it immediately found my Edge 305. This tells me that there must be some sort of preference issue so I'm off to investigate in ~/Library/
  • Further investigation:

    I closed Garmin Express.
I moved all the com.garmin... files from ~/Library/Preferences to the Desktop.
    I restarted Garmin Express.

It found my Edge 305, asked for my Garmin Connect password and synced.

In ~/Library/Preferences, I can see that it has recreated com.garmin.renu.service.plist

When I compare the new ...renu.service... file with the old one, I see that the two are identical except for lines 33 and 34 which show:

    Old file:
    <key>last_notification_check</key>
    <date>2014-06-18T12:51:08Z</date>

    New file:
    <key>last_notification_check</key>
    <date>2014-06-18T13:42:49Z</date>

I suspect that the offending file may have been com.garmin.renu.client.plist so I would suggest moving just that one file to the Desktop and then seeing whether it works.
