MAC issue – HowTo copy preinstalled/bundled map from EDGE 1000 to Basecamp?

This is a MAC issue

Hi there,

when using Express I have an option to transfer/copy the preinstalled routeable Map to Basecamp – I can start the process and it goes through until the very end resulting in an error message (something that translate into "there is a communication error with the Garmin server – please retry").

After the unsuccessful attempt I can see that a hefty pair of files have been copied to "/Users/myusername/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/Maps" called "gmapgc.img" and "gmapdem.img" which I have no idea on how to use.

Please find below two screenshots (SORRY in German only).

Anyone with a solution for this issue?

Maybe I'm simply running the wrong way...

Cheers, Lorenz
  • This is an Express issue so I'm moving it to the Express forum.

However if the map came pre-installed I don't believe you can use Express to install it onto your mac
  • Hi SUSSAMB – thanks for moving (or actually listing it in both sections of the forum).

Technically: If I launch Express an select devices there is a section on re-installation of the bundled map. Using the advanced options I can select "device only", "pc only" and finally "device and pc" which are expicitly designed for Basecamp. Should do exactely what I want :-)

    Please find below a screenshot...

  • It's still an Express issue ... and the team here are active, don't think the team that develop the 1000 are :)
